Franklin sits about as far from Boston as a town can while still being on a commuter line into it. I-495 runs through, Route 140 crosses it, and the Franklin/Foxboro Line has two stops here — Franklin Center in the downtown and Forge Park/495 out by the highway. That combination is convenient for a nine-to-five and close to useless for a dawn flight, which is most of what brings people to us.

This is one of the longer airport runs we do, and distance is exactly why the timing has to be deliberate rather than generous. The route normally works through I-495 and across, and the last stretch into the city is where the variability lives. The commuter line gets you to South Station on a good day — it does not get you to a terminal, and it does not run when a six o'clock departure needs it to.
Franklin's heaviest travel days are not weekday mornings. They are Dean College arrival and commencement weekends, and the wedding and celebration bookings that fill the local venues in season — both of which bring groups of people from outside the area into a town whose road network they do not know. That is a planning problem before it is a driving problem, and it is solved on paper before the day.
